Therapy Sessions

***Currently offering Teletherapy as well as in-person sessions***

1.

Psychotherapy for Children

I have over 20 years experience working with children.  My approach is a mix of play and talk therapy with a focus on prevention as well as treatment.  I keep the sessions fun and active!  Sessions with children can be with a parent or a combination of parent and alone.  It is imperative that parents are an active part of therapy.

2.

Psychotherapy for Adolescents

The teenage years are full of growth and change.  My focus is on building a safe environment where trust can be formed and teens have a place to learn coping skills for the future as well as a place to feel accepted.  Despite being a place of refuge, it is important that parents are available for connection and occasional check-in's.  Sessions will consist of structured coping skills as well as talk therapy to process emotions.

3.

Psychotherapy for Adults

To reduce anxiety and depression, mindfulness and exposure therapy can be helpful as well as the processing of emotions and acquiring coping skills. Sessions will consist of skill-based work to acknowledge, understand and use emotions as a positive force for one's happiness.  When one is motivated towards change, happiness and great relationships are possible.

4.

Family
Therapy

Through a strengths-based perspective, I will help you examine how attachment patterns have formed and affect one throughout our lives.  As someone who enjoys working with children, families and adults, I offer structured exercises as well as a place to feel comfortable expressing emotions.  I have a strong interest in attachment and positive parenting/ positive discipline.  I believe that the “relationship” is the strongest catalyst for change.

The Kalm Approach

There is only the present time.  We reminisce about the past in the present and worry about the future in the present.  Positive Psychology helps one to develop resilience, optimism, happiness, motivation, hope and positive thinking.  Self-esteem and well-being are fostered through mindfulness and truly trying to be in the present moment. It is evident that I have a deep interest in families as well as adult relationships.  I also believe strongly in the concept of behavioral medicine; how the mind and the body are interconnected.  I have a robust passion for neuroscience and how the brain develops across the lifespan. The Kalm approach focuses on health from the mind to the body- as each part is interdependent on the other.
